The TWIN IV. - Our Students in Marl

The TWIN project came to its fourth round. From 2nd to 8th April 2017 our students continued their "Window on Europe" Erasmus+ union financed project in the city of Marl, Germany. The task was the assessment of the project, the analysis and evaluation of the positive and negative issues arisen during the realization and the possible ways how the project could be developed in the future. The main tasks during the week were the coordination of the programming parts, testing the communication with the wall and smart phones regarding the individual countries. Besides the professional programmes they could participate in a number of programmes. They had the opportunity to watch a coal power plant and get acquainted with its operation and further use of energy. They visited the famous football museum, the Dortmund U-Tower with its LED curtain and its control technology.

The team arrived home with lots of unforgettable experiences and professional skills knowing that they still have lots of tasks to be solved.

The full function operating test of the walls and putting them into operation can be expected by early August.

Besides the professional work the participants of the project had the opportunity to get to know the beauty of the host cities, the culture and dishes of other countries. Last but not least, they made friends for a life during their four meetings.

The set up LED walls will operate as windows through which our students can communicate with the students from the other three countries during the school year. We will be able to see their school events, their everyday life, etc. The LED wall can function as well as a screen. We are more than happy to be able to use the wall on our school events. We hope to continue this TWIN project or any other similarly promising and challenging international ones.

In line with the Project „TWIN-The Wall-Information about Europe

a 2x2 m big LED-wall with an European Information system from students of Germany, Italy, Poland and Hungary will be built up and programmed. The Wall will be installed in the school yard of the involved schools. Every Student, Employee and Guest will be able to get information about the European Union per app on their smart phones and concurrently there will be an additional signalling on the LED-Wall. The main aim of this Project is the aid of the MINT-authority in context to a European cooperation. The learners enlarge their knowledge task-related about the European Union and get to know the involved counties. In contact with the students of the other project schools they enlarge their intercultural authorities. Because of the different spoken languages on the partner-schools it is necessary to find a common language. The working language of the project is English. The students have to use their English skills and are also able to practice them. The functional focus is the electronic, electrotechnical and the informational area. The project promotes the students’ job-related profile.
